Ford is expanding its relationship with Cabela’s, the world’s largest outdoor outfitter, by offering a new Cabela’s FX4 package for 2009. According to customer data, seventy-six percent of F-Series buyers hunt and fish and a key way for Ford to connect with those outdoor enthusiasts is as the official truck of Cabela’s for the last six years with products prominently placed at stores nationwide and featured in Cabela’s publications and TV programming. The Cabela’s FX4 package features a unique two-tone paint scheme in five colors: Ebony, Oxford White, Forest Green Metallic, Royal Red Metallic and Silver Metallic with Sterling Grey Metallic lower body accents, running boards and wheel lip moldings. Custom mud flaps and unique Cabela’s badging finish off the exterior.

The interior features standard cloth seats with the Cabela’s logo or available Aniline leather seats with a unique two-tone embossed grain pattern. The center stack is finished with a dark Paldeo wood appliqué. All weather floor mats also wear the Cabela’s logo. And for the avid outdoor enthusiast, additional lockable storage in the front console and underneath the rear seats is perfect for keeping equipment secure and out of sight.

Tough Bed

Ford is offering Tough Bed, a unique, military-grade, factory-installed, spray-in bed liner for the first time on the 2009 F-Series Super Duty.

“Tough Bed is a smart solution for Ford Super Duty customers who want to better protect their most important asset – the pickup box,” said Tom Aubrey, Ford F-Series Super Duty marketing manager. “Like the entire truck, Tough Bed stands up to the most stringent durability standards including those required by the U.S. Military – that definitely makes it ‘Built Ford Tough.’.”

According to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), installation of spray-in bedliners grew from 27 percent in 2004 to nearly 34 percent of all pickup trucks in 2006, and will continue to grow at a steady rate to nearly 40 percent in 2008.

Developed in partnership with PPG Industries, Tough Bed exceeds the standards of today’s typical aftermarket spray-in bedliner solutions. This military-grade coating has been through the government’s toughest blast mitigation testing to determine whether the material can with stand the force of a bomb blast. It has performed equal to or better than other protective coating systems at one-third the thickness.

The polyol-based elastomeric film and isocyanate hardener are applied to the pickup box by a precision, high-pressure, automated sprayer to ensure one smooth, even coat at a very low film thickness unlike the traditional hand-spray application of aftermarket bed liners.

The finer application ensures that the bedliner materials won’t run or sag on the inside walls of the box in addition minimizing unnecessary weight. Tough Bed does not compromise Super Duty’s class-leading cargo capacity or the installation of aftermarket assets such as tool boxes, tonneau covers and truck caps. The uniformly textured surface also helps minimize load slippage while delivering an exceptionally clean appearance.

The special bedliner material formula is immune to the effects of ultraviolet radiation and will not fade or chalk. It also protects against physical damage to the pickup box such as gouging, scratching, cracking and chipping. It is covered by a 3-year/36,000-mile factory limited warranty.
All F-Series Super Duty models are built at Ford’s Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Ky.

No doubt – HAMANN knows how to refine luxury cars. And with the tuning programme for the V8 Vantage of the English luxury brand Aston Martin, the Laupheim-based company once again confirms its supremacy as a manufacturer of sport accessories and thrilling body design.

”Form follows function“ – in this spirit, HAMANN perfectly co-ordinates the individual components of the aerodynamics kit with each other. The result is an impressive styling with an optimised airflow over the car silhouette and an additional output for increased bend speed.

The bow of the Aston Martin can be optionally equipped with a spoiler lip for the original front or enhanced with an entire front skirt. Between the front and rear side, the striking HAMANN side skirt attachments render an integrated design and give the Vantage a lowered and more stretched look. In order to reduce the lifting forces at the back axle, HAMANN technicians developed a shapely spoiler which can be fitted on the rear lid and enhanced with a matching three-part rear diffuser. The latter optically extends the side skirts downwards and skilfully enhances the two end pipes of the HAMANN sport exhaust system. Basically, the customer can choose from two materials for the body components. HAMANN produces its entire aerodynamics programme in fibre glass or optionally in matt carbon.

Sportive and elegant – the new light alloy wheel EDITION RACE

One of the technical highlights in the tuning programme is the new three-part HAMANN light alloy wheel named EDITION RACE. The forged wheel combines both sportiness as well as elegance. The black varnished rim star and the titanium bolting emphasise the dynamism of the wheel, the highly-polished rim flange on the other hand renders a noble appearance. HAMANN offers the wheel/tyre combination measuring 9,0Jx21 inches with 245/30ZR21 tyres at the front and 10,5Jx21 rims with tyres measuring 295/25ZR21 at the back for 8,540 €. The new aluminium wheels are accentuated with special chassis springs which lower the centre of gravity of the V8 Vantage by 30 mm at the front axle and by 20 mm at the rear axle. At the same time, this enhances the handling of this sports car.

HAMANN exhaust components: a successful symbiosis of sound and performance

Especially for the V8 Vantage, the Swabian engineers developed sport catalysers and sport end mufflers. The components made of stainless steel render an impressive sound setting and emphasise the sportive value of the HAMANN-makeover. At the same time they breathe an additional 20 hp more performance into the British noble car and this mainly enhances its agility.

Stylish interior

Produced in the traditional style of Aston Martin which is reflected in comfort, luxury and sportiness in the interior, HAMANN Motorsport offers discreet interior applications. Thus, the noble aluminium pedal set including a foot rest and the car mat set made of threaded pearl velours set sportive trends. If desired, customers can also opt for a handmade complete leather equipment which meets the exclusive demands of Aston Martin drivers.

Mercedes-Benz is proud to present a prestigious new luxury limousine for use by government leaders, captains of industry and royalty – the S 600 Pullman Guard with integrated Highest Protection. The latest in a long and unique tradition of large, armoured, prestige limousines from the world’s oldest automaker, this model also marks a special anniversary for the Stuttgart-based firm: 80 years of manufacturing vehicles with factory-integrated special protection.

The very first Mercedes-Benz car to be built with factory-integrated special protection was a Pullman limousine version of the “Nürburg” 460 (W08) series which was introduced in 1928. At the beginning of the 1930s, this was followed by the 770 (W07) “Grand Mercedes” (which provided protection befitting the status of Japanese Emperor Hirohito, to name but one prominent user) as well as by the special-protection variants of the 500 (W08) and 770 (W 150) model series. In the 1960s, the legendary Mercedes-Benz 600 took on the mantle of state limousine for a period of almost thirty years which saw it serve as an official vehicle not only for the German government, but also for many other countries’ leaders and ruling houses. Further special-protection Pullman versions of the Mercedes-Benz S-Guard followed their distinguished predecessors – the very latest being the new S 600 Pullman Guard.

Like the famously luxurious and spacious open-plan Pullman railway coaches after which it is named, the new S 600 Pullman Guard treats its occupants to a travelling environment characterised by generous accommodation and the highest comfort. The vehicle owes its remarkably spacious interior to its 4315-millimetre wheelbase (115 centimetres longer than that of the long version of the special-protection S-Class). Indeed, with an overall length of 6356 millimetres, the S 600 Pullman Guard is a vehicle of truly majestic proportions which offers its passengers not only a maximum of comfort, but also a superbly appointed setting for discreet meetings, equipped, of course, with all the key communications and entertainment systems. This ensures they are always able to remain fully in touch with the rest of the world while enjoying the luxury and comfort of their own very special place in it.

Developed as a new vehicle on the basis of the S 600

The technical basis for the new Pullman limousine is provided by the S 600 Guard, the top of the Mercedes-Benz Guard range. It is powered by a superbly smooth twelve-cylinder biturbo engine with a displacement of 5513 cubic centimetres and an output of 380 kW/517 hp with an impressive 830 Nm of torque.

The suspension and basic vehicle structure have been modified as it would be impossible to guarantee the long-term overall stability of the vehicle with its extra-long wheelbase if the lengthening process consisted of simply inserting an additional body section. The modifications also provide a solid foundation for the integration of the heavy special-protection elements. Furthermore, the new state limousine is equipped with a higher rear roof for easier access and greater headroom. Four passengers can be accommodated in the rear compartment behind the partition — in comfortable seats whose face-to-face arrangement recalls the great Pullman tradition.

Integrated special protection for outstanding safety

What’s more, the new Mercedes-Benz S 600 Pullman Guard offers its demanding passengers extremely effective protection from terrorist attacks. Its Highest Protection status means that it has been engineered to resistance level B6/B7, as tested and certified by state-approved organisations, and also meets additional requirements which go beyond those laid down in the standard but which are tested by public and independent organisations. Its armour resists military-standard small-arms projectiles and provides protection against fragments from hand grenades and other explosive charges. Additional safety features include run-flat tyres, a self-sealing fuel tank and a fire-extinguishing system.

In order to ensure that the vehicle offers outstanding protection, specialists with many years of experience in this field apply the principle of integrated special protection to the Pullman limousine. In effect this means that, rather than retro-fitting the protective elements in the doors, rear wall, side panels, roof lining and firewall etc. of an already finished vehicle, they fully integrate them into the bodyshell in a dedicated production process. This effectively creates a coat of armour around the entire passenger cell. Even the roof frame struts, door locks, door gaps, exterior mirror mountings and other components are incorporated into this security concept. The resulting vehicle offers hallmark Mercedes-Benz build quality combined with comprehensive Highest Protection characteristics, even in those areas where retrofitting would be all but impossible.

A further advantage of integrated special protection is that the protective features actually reinforce the body structure rather than exerting extra strain. In addi-tion, Mercedes-Benz’ integrated design approach means that any body-structure reinforcements required due to the weight of the protective elements can be integrated right from the very start. The result is extraordinary longevity and the same exceptional quality all round that distinguishes Mercedes-Benz standard-production models.

All Mercedes-Benz Guard models display the same outstanding ride comfort and effortlessly superior handling as their series-production counterparts. Further-more, generously dimensioned suspension components and brakes ensure that their handling qualities are almost identical to those of the standard-production models, thus giving the driver an optimal driving feel with high dynamic reserves at all times. The chassis is also designed to provide hallmark Mercedes ride comfort despite the extra weight.

The basis for this is the long-standing, continuous and close cooperation with nationally and internationally recognised security authorities. For decades, this has ensured that the Mercedes specialists have been able to continuously increase their expertise in the fields of development and manufacturing while also applying their vast experience in vehicle protection technology and ballistics to meet the highest standards.

Thanks to the seamless integration of the special protection features, the paint quality and corrosion protection match the standards of Mercedes-Benz series-production vehicles. And, like all other Guard models, the Pullman limousines can be serviced in any Mercedes-Benz service outlet anywhere in the world – another important factor which ensures easy access to comprehensive service of the highest standard.

80 years of Guard – factory-integrated special protection

As the inventor of the motor car, the world’s oldest automaker has always felt a special obligation to drive forward the development of automotive technology at the highest level and to keep on setting new standards for the industry. This demanding objective which Mercedes-Benz has set itself also applies to its special-protection vehicles, as is demonstrated by the Stuttgart-based premium brand’s unique track record in this field. As early as 1928, with a vehicle based on the Nürburg 460 model, Daimler-Benz became the first company to factory-fit vehicles with special protective elements design to provide the occupants with effective protection from attack with firearms and explosives. This was the start of eight decades of extensive materials testing and focused development, during much of which Mercedes-Benz enjoyed a unique position in the field of special-protection vehicles.

The special-protection version of the Mercedes-Benz “Nürburg” 460 model was followed in the 1930s and 1940s by armoured variants of the 770 “Grand Mercedes” as well as the 500 and 540 K models. In September 1963, Mercedes-Benz presented a new, exclusive prestige vehicle – the legendary 600 model – to meet the requirements of the most demanding customers. Shortly after the launch, the German government approached Daimler-Benz with a request for an armoured version for state visitors. For the engineering team in Stuttgart, this marked the beginning of a new era chara-cterised by a new set of challenges – not least, how to reconcile the requirements of a special-protection vehicle with a self-supporting body structure which had by now become the industry norm. With no other German manufacturer at the time able to offer factory-built armoured passenger cars and Mercedes-Benz limou-sines being held in high esteem by many governments around the world, a close working relationship developed between Daimler-Benz and the German authorities. In the course of this cooperation, the Stuttgart-based automaker came up with many new technical solutions and concepts. Indeed, this intensive cooper-ation formed the basis for the current European standards which define the different resistance levels.

In 1970, when there was suddenly great demand for special-protection vehicles following attacks on diplomats in Latin America, Daimler-Benz rose to the occasion with armoured versions of the 280 SEL 3.5 model. Demand grew once again during the 1970s with the attacks by the RAF terrorist group. Mercedes-Benz therefore built special-protection variants of the eight-cylinder 350 SE, 350 SEL, 450 SE and 450 SEL models which it supplied to a select group of customers, including state bodies and governments in Europe and beyond.

All subsequent generations of the S-Class have been available in the form of special-protection variants. This was the case with the 126 model series as well as the 140, 220 and the current 221 model series. In addition to its S-Guard line-up, Mercedes-Benz today also offers E-Guard and G-Guard special-protection vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz offers High Protection and Highest Protection

Mercedes-Benz uses this know-how acquired over many years to provide answers to different risk scenarios all over the world, offering Mercedes-Benz Guard models with various resistance levels in accordance with the European standard.

High-Protection vehicles, engineered to the European B4 resistance level, resist large-calibre revolver ammunition and offer particularly good protection against the increasing threat of drug-related and violent street crime.
Highest-Protection vehicles, engineered to resistance level B6/B7, provide effective protection against the threat posed by terrorist attacks. Their armour is designed to resist rifle-launched projectiles from military weapons which have a velocity almost twice that of bullets fired from a revolver. They also offer resistance to shrapnel from hand grenades and explosive charges.

“Our new panoramic glass roof will allow owners to enjoy the outdoors year-round from the comfort of their Mustang,” said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president for Global Product Development. “It’s one more feature that sets Mustang apart from the competition.”

Three Roof Choices – Top That!

The glass roof joins the coupe and convertible to give Mustang customers three roof choices. It also addresses the fact that 62 percent of buyers in the sports car segment are interested in a sunroof or moonroof on their next vehicle, according to J.D. Power and Associates research. Mustang’s new roof allows customers to let the sun shine in for half the price of moving up from a coupe to a convertible.

While allowing occupants an unrestricted view of the world above and around them, the special tinted, reflective glass reduces energy used by the vehicle’s air conditioning system by 20 percent and also protects the interior fabric from fading and deteriorating. A manually operated roller blind allows owners to block the light on bright days.

Noise, vibration and harshness are controlled in the cabin with a layer of sound absorbent vinyl sandwiched within the special glass.

The glass-roof Mustang is built like the coupe and has been developed to maintain the structural integrity of the car.

“We want to offer this feature to customers while maintaining the quality and safety of the vehicle that we’ve been recognized externally for,” said Paul Randle, Mustang chief engineer.

More Standard Equipment

For 2009, Ford has also added more standard equipment to the popular “Premium” arrays offered on both the Mustang V-6 and GT, including SIRIUS® Satellite Radio, ambient lighting, satin aluminum instrument panel trim and upgraded interior trim.

A new, optional GT Security Package includes an active anti-theft system and wheel locking kit and Brilliant Silver clearcoat metallic joins the list of available Mustang exterior colors.

The Mustang V-6 coupe and convertible are equipped with a 210-horsepower, 4.0-liter SOHC 6-cylinder engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed automatic. The Mustang GT coupe and convertible are powered by a 300-horsepower, 4.6-liter 3V V-8 engine. The standard gearbox is 5-speed manual, with an available 5-speed automatic.

Other highlights include

–Standard front-seat side air bags; dual-stage driver and front passenger air bags; safety-belt pretensioners; passenger seat sensing; crash severity sensing.
–Available High Intensity Discharge headlamps.
–18-inch wheel offering on V-6 coupe.
–Available customizable instrument panel allowing mix-and-match lighting at the touch of a button.

A SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) such as the X5 also looks well kitted out with such sporty accessories as a front spoiler, rear skirt and two-piece side sills. Unlike the HARTGE “HUNTER”, which transforms the X5 into a thoroughbred off-road vehicle, this version from the German-based automaker on a BMW basis bears the unmistakable hallmarks of an individual “road runner”. Under the hood, a modified ECU performs absolute miracles, boosting the power of the 3.0d engine from 235 hp (173 kW) to a solid 275 hp (202 kW), while the maximum torque goes up from 520 Nm (lb-ft 384) to almost 600 Nm (lb-ft 443). This power boost lends this 4-wheel-drive vehicle, with its 6 speed automatic gearbox and weighing in at more 2150 kg, outstanding performance figures, allowing it to sprint in 7.4 seconds to a speed of 100 km/h (production vehicle 8.3 sec.) and reach a top speed of 232 km/h. The additional 16 km/h is derived – if only to a minor extent – also from the aerodynamic components and the reduced frontal area. Thanks to a sports spring set with level control system for rear axle, this X5 is namely 30 mm lower.

Complementing the sporty outfit, HARTGE equips this X5 with a set of “Classic 2” light alloy wheels. These 22-inch wheel rims are fitted with 285 Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires at front and rolls on extra-wide 335-size tires of the same type at the back. Simply chic – the set of HARTGE carbon (silver) casings for exterior mirrors. Geared precisely to HARTGE and ideally suited for this X5 is the set of emblems for bonnet and boot lid in addition to a 120 x 19 mm insignia. The rear skirt is flanked by a HARTGE stainless steel tail piece with oval tail pipes left and right.

Looking through the HARTGE 3-spoke leather steering wheel with its silver carbon inserts, which replaces the BMW 3-spoke standard airbag steering wheel, another eye-catching feature is the 300 km/h speedometer with dial in silver metallic and red needle. It is possible to equip the automatic pedals with a two-piece set of aluminum pedals with a non-slip napped finish. Further interior touches are added by a HARTGE carbon interior trim for dash board, gear knob panelling and front and rear doors in addition to floor mats in black velour for the X5 with 3rd row rear seat. For this seven-seater version of the X5, HARTGE is also offering a load floor mat in black velour with extensible flap to cover rear bumper as an added convenience.

The total price for this fully kitted out version of the X5 is € 57,554 plus VAT. Needless to say, all the HARTGE add-on parts can be retrofitted individually.

Premier4509 has added the Lamborghini Gallardo to their lineup of aero kits for exotic vehicles. The latest release from the company features aerodynamic enhancing redesigns for the front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper and rear spoiler. Optional stainless steel exhaust tips will also be offered with the package.

The pieces will be hand made in Japan and will be built using a combination of Carbon Fiber and FRP. Weve been in this business for twenty years now and weve always been known for our quality. Weve gone a step up for our Premier line up and these parts will be flawless. For this line up we have assembled our best teams of craftsmen in Japan to hand build these parts. said Hironoa Yokomaku, president of Premier4509. For example, the rear diffuser on our Gallardo kit is larger than the raw sheets of supplied carbon fiber. To ensure there are no seam lines from the adjoining sheets, we have a technician whose sole responsibility is to line up the individual rows of carbon fiber with a needle.

The design of the kit will aid the aerodynamic efficiency and will direct the airflow to vent crucial components on the vehicle. The design is reminiscent of where Lamborghini is headed in design. I wanted to capture that essence while offering a dramatic option to Gallardo owners, said Yokomaku.

The Premier4509 collection is rapidly expanding its line up and has included the introduction of a wide body kit for the Bentley Continental GT and the Lamborghini Murcielago. The line will also expand to include more products for Bentley, Maserati and Aston Martin.

Premier4509 is based in Tskuba, Japan with offices in Paramount, California. Premier4509 is a brand developed and created by VeilSide, a Japanese automotive performance company that and specializes in automotive parts that include aero design, engine parts and luxury wheels. The company owns two world records for racing as well as several design awards from the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has announced pricing for its new 2009 Lancer Ralliart All-Wheel Drive, turbocharged sedan. The new Lancer Ralliart reinforces the sporty identity of the Lancer vehicle lineup with aggressive styling and driving performance, offering a unique balance between the Lancer 2.4 GTS and the Lancer Evolution models. The Lancer Ralliart features a modified version of the Lancer Evolution 4B11 turbocharged intercooled 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC engine, producing 237-horsepower, and is teamed exclusively with Mitsubishi’s advanced Twin Clutch-Sportronic¨ Shift Transmission (TC-SST). The 2009 Lancer Ralliart will start at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $26,490.00.

“The 2009 Lancer Ralliart creates a perfect middle ground for the consumer looking for more performance than is offered in a Lancer GTS, but not quite to the extent of the rally-inspired and storied Lancer Evolution sports sedan,” said Dan Kuhnert, executive vice president for marketing and sales, Mitsubishi Motors North America. “The result is a unique model optimized for exhilarating yet balanced overall road performance.”

The full-time 4WD driveline features Mitsubishi’s Active Center Differential (ACD) unit, which employs an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch center differential, vectoring drive torque to the front and rear according to different driving conditions to realize the best balance between steering response and traction characteristics on Tarmac, Gravel, or Snow surfaces. Lancer Ralliart is also equipped with a front helical and rear mechanical limited slip differentials. Ralliart-tuned suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels with 215/45 R18 Yokohama ADVAN summer tires complement the high grip afforded by the full-time active 4-wheel drive, while Standard Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control (TCL) contribute to safe handling.

The Lancer Ralliart exterior is distinguished by its more aggressively styled front bumper design, rear bumper cover, dual outlet muffler and a lightweight aluminum, ducted hood that delivers cooling air to the turbocharger. The interior design places greater emphasis on function and vehicle control. Lancer Ralliart is also equipped with FAST-Key, hands free telephone interface and easily accessible steering column mounted paddle shifters.

The optional RECARO¨ Sport Package, $2,750.00 MSRP, further enhances the Lancer Ralliart’s sporty appearance with Xenon HID headlamps, 650 watt Rockford Fosgate¨, Sirius Satellite Radio with 6-months subscription and RECARO ¨ front sport seats found on the Lancer Evolution GSR. A new 40-GB HDD navigation system is also available as either a port-installed option or as a dealer accessory.

Safety Features
Standard safety features in all Lancer models include an advanced dual front air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) with occupant sensors, standard front seat-mounted side-impact air bags and side curtain air bags, plus a driver’s knee air bag.

Premium Warranty

The new 2009 model year Lancer Ralliart also comes with a fully transferable 3-year/36,000 mile “bumper-to-bumper” new vehicle limited warranty. The Mitsubishi “3/36,” limited warranty is in addition to a 5-year/60,000 mile power train limited warranty and a 7-year/100,000 mile anti-corrosion perforation limited warranty. In addition, all Mitsubishi models come with 5-year unlimited miles Roadside Assistance benefits.
